Zamia Trail, Bold Park
Located in the heart of Perth, Bold Park offers several hiking trails that range from easy to moderate difficulty. The trails vary in length, with the longest taking around 3-4 hours to complete.
The Zamia Trail is the most popular. With views of both the coast and the city it’s a lovely morning out. This 5.1km loop wanders through a variety of terrain to show off the best of Perth’s suburban hikes.
Eagle View Walk, John Forrest National Park
This park is located about 24 km east of Perth and offers several hiking trails that can be completed in half a day.
The Eagle View Walk Trail is a popular 15km loop and takes around 4 hours to complete. It's a Perth favourite with beautiful coastal and city views, wildflowers in spring, and flowing waterfalls after some rain.
In 2023, this trail was realigned along with a few other John Forrest favourites. The Noolbenger off-road cycle trail was also officially opened in December 2023, making great use of the Heritage Trail to create smaller loops.
Lesmurdie Falls in Mundy Reigional Park
The Lesmurdie Falls walk is a 3 km loop trail that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. The trail offers great views of one of Perth’s best waterfalls and the surrounding area. There are several other short hikes that you can string together for a longer walk if you’re looking for a bigger hike.
Sixty Foot Falls, Ellis Brook Valley
Ellis Brook Valley is located about 20 km southeast of Perth and offers several hiking trails that can be completed in half a day. The Sixty Foot Falls Trail is a popular choice and takes around 2-3 hours to complete.
This park is one of the few dog friendly waterfall hikes in Perth, with beautiful wildflowers between September and November.
Kitties Gorge Trail, Serpentine National Park
The Kitties Gorge Trail is a 14km return trail in Serpentine National Park. The trail is known for its stunning views of the Avon Valley, granite rock formations, cascades and waterfalls and wildflowers in the spring.
Going south to north, the trail meanders along the pipeline first and later a creek. As you explore further upstream you begin to hear delightful cascades which are stunning when you finally get to lay eyes on them.
This trail finishes in Jarrahdale where you can either head off trail or turn back to return to Serpentine National Park.
